Step 1
Use a heating pad- Place the heating pad on your back in the area of the pain. Heat improves blood flow to the painful area and helps to ease pain and help with recovery. There are even heating patches available in drugstores that you can wear all day to deliver heat to a painful area for several hours.
-
Step 2
Move around- Much back pain can be attributed to sitting still for long periods of time. At work, take a 5 minute movement break every hour or so. When on a long plane flight, get up and walk up and down the aisles every hour.
-
Step 3
Get a massage- A relaxing massage can help to improve circulation and ease pain.
-
Step 4
Exercise- Weak abdominal muscles and weak back muscles can contribute to back pain. Strengthen these areas to help reduce back pain.
-
Step 5
Lift with your legs- When lifting a heavy objects, use your legs rather than your back. Bend your knees and engage your abdominal muscles when lifting.
