Kusudama is a form of origami, using the same pieces of origami units to form it to the shape of a ball. The finished piece is used for decoration, and can also be a gift for a friend! There are many different types used, this article is a step by step guide to show you how to make a flower origami unit (part 1).

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 square pieces of paper (3cm x 3cm each)
  • glue
  1. Step 1

Fold the paper in half, creating a triangle.

  2. Step 2

Take the sides and fold them upwards going towards the top of the triangle, it should look like a square now.

  3. Step 3

Take the piece you just folded and fold it down to the edge of the square.

  4. Step 4

With the fold you've just created, lift it up, then press it down (see next picture).

  5. Step 5

Fold a smaller triangle with the flap you've created on both sides.

  6. Step 6

Fold the piece on the side half way on both sides.

  7. Step 7

Apply glue on one side of the petal, stick it to the other side, creating the first petal.

  8. Step 8

    Make four more petals.

  9. Step 9

Glue them together to form an origami flower.

  10. Step 10

To create the flower kusudama, see the second part (found in Resource Tab)
