Easy Project for Lent
Easy Project for Lent

Part of observing Lent is to help children participate and understand this period of sacrifice. This is an easy children's project that the entire family can help with. It will make a lasting impression on your children and set a positive example for the future.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • large glass jar or shoebox
  • lots of pennies
  1. Step 1

Talk to your child about the reason we observe Lent, what it means, and why it is important. There are lots of books that are kid-friendly for this if you need some extra help.

  2. Step 2

Decide what kind of container your child will use for the project. Let your child decorate the container as appropriate.

  3. Step 3

Use a calendar to mark off the days for Lent. For the first day, put one penny in the jar or container. For the 2nd day, put 2 pennies. Third day = three pennies. Continue depositing pennies in the container for the 40 days of Lent.

  4. Step 4

Let your child give the money to your church on Easter Sunday. Or, if you do not belong to a church but still observe Lent, consider letting your child donate the pennies to charity for Easter.
