Step 1
There aren't really that many steps to performing a water detox. The average amount of water intake per day should be roughly equal to 2-3 liters. However, total daily water includes water in food and water that is formed as a result of metabolic reactions that occur inside the body's cells in addition to water intake.
When you want to start a water detox, you are going to have to drink more than the average amount of water per day, perhaps twice as much as normal. At the level of 4-6 liters, the body can filter chemical and toxins more efficiently. -
Step 2
However, do NOT stop eating. If you want, you can eat less than you usually eat, but never fast. I don't believe in a "water fast" because thats just dangerous and stupid. Also, if you check your weight you will appear to be a little heavier because of all the weight retained from the water. This will go away after you finish.
You can eat lots of fiber and green vegetables in order to detox and cleanse your colon at the same time. This is another great idea to detox at the same time. Make sure to again drink plenty of water. -
Step 3
You can perform this water detox for 3-4 days. Never go any further. After that point, return to your regular diet. If you need to repeat, wait at least a week. This allows your body to recover from the water detox procedure.

on 3/14/2009 good water detox advice and suggestions. I have just begun adding a bunch of water in my diet. I've neglected a strong use of it... so maybe I need almost a gallon a day to catch up. :)... seriously. Very wise of you to mention that it can be dangerous and that consulting a doctor of one's water detox interest may make for good sense also.
