Things You'll Need:
- Empty Epson ink cartridges
-
Step 1
Remove the used Epson ink cartridges from your Epson inkjet printer. Shake the old Epson ink cartridge to check that the used ink cartridges are empty. Replace the old cartridges with new Epson ink cartridges to restore printing capabilities to your Epson inkjet.
-
Step 2
Collect the used Epson inkject cartridges in a plastic container or plastic bag. Be careful not to let excess Epson ink drip on anything.
-
Step 3
Register an account with one of the various used Epson ink cartridge recycling programs. Three of the biggest cartridge recycling companies are Freecycling, Advantage Cartridge and eCycle (links in the Resources section). These programs are funded by companies that pay you credit for old ink cartridges. In this way, ink cartridge recycling is encouraged because home computer users are able to make money on old Epson ink cartridges. Upon registration, the ink cartridge recycling company will send you an ink cartridge recycling kit with information and ways to send them the ink cartridge. Most kits include a box to mail the cartridges, or a label to apply to your own box.
-
Step 4
Send in the used Epson ink cartridges to the recycling program for credit. When the company receives the empty Epson ink cartridges, they will add money to your account. You may request the money be sent to you at any time.
-
Step 5
Repeat these steps anytime you have used Epson ink cartridges and want to return the Epson cartridges for credit or for money.

on 3/3/2009 I wonder if HP has a program like this. I already send them my ink cartridges when they're empty, but I don't get anything but a good feeling for recycling. Good article. Hopefully those who have Epson will take advantage of it.
