Perfect Poppet Pattern for Spring Equinox
Perfect Poppet Pattern for Spring Equinox

Pagans (Wiccans, Druids, etc.) celebrate the Vernal Equinox as a time for renewal and the beginning of Spring is it's a great time to manifest some positive energy in your life! A poppet is great for this, it's a small doll meant to represent you and your desires. What does your life need? Do you need to learn to be kinder to yourself? More money? More creativity? Rev up your sex life? A poppet is a powerful object to for you to focus on when thinking about what you'd like to bring into your life, and they're cuddly too!

I personally make my poppets anatomically correct because I prefer to have all my bits represented, thankyouverymuch.

Before you get all Eastwick, a few quick reminders: Remember, your poppet is a
physical representation of yourself so you want to keep her someplace safe. Much like you wouldn't want someone else wearing your panties or for your ex to have video of your last romp together to show all their loser friends, you wouldn't want someone else getting their grubby paws on your poppet. Also, using your poppet to make someone do something you want, such as a love spell? Believe me, it only leads to tears. Much like you don't like it when someone tries to make you do something you don't want to do, other people don't like it much either. Besides, like we all learned in Practical Magic, margaritas good, love potions bad.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Materials needed:
  • Around a cup full of something to stuff your poppet (dried beans, fiberfill, cotton, etc.)
  • Fabric Scissors
  • 2 felt squares, like you can get pre-cut from a fabric shop
  • Small bit of yarn for hair
  • Herbs, stones, representations of your desire. Some examples include: rosemary brings happiness to your home, lavender helps you sleep and brings calm, rose quartz attracts all kinds of love (self lov
  • Lock of your hair
  • Small bead or sequin or small fabric flower
  • Needle and thread

    Poppet Breast Pattern

Optionally, print the template for breasts for your poppet if you're making a female poppet.

  3. Step 3

Put your two felt squares on top of each other. Pin your pattern to the felt squares. Cut out the pattern.

Pick one half to be the poppet front and the other to be the poppet back.

Sew the breasts onto the poppet front.

Sew the bead, flower or sequin to represent the poppet's yoni (if female, a little set of bells can be used to represent the poppet's lingam if male).

Sew your poppet's front to back with the breast/yoni (or bells if male)facing outward. Make sure to leave about two inches open to stuff your poppet.

  4. Step 4

Stuff your poppet with your filling, your lock of hair, and your representations of your desire. Sew her hair on.

Before sewing up your poppet, charge her with your energy by holding her close to you and think about what you're trying to manifest.

    Sew her up.

Drape fabric around her to represent clothes or sew clothes for her if you're very crafty. You can add jewelry, piercings, whatever you like!

    So mote it be!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't know how to sew, that's okay! You can use glue. Fabric glue works, but a hot glue gun is best.
  • This poppet is not meant for small children
  • Remember that you want to use this poppet to manifest positive energy.
