Conserve Fuel or Gas when Driving

Here are a few tips on how to stretch a tank of Fuel in your vehicle.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Avoid aggressive driving which includes speeding, rapid acceleration and riding the brakes; All of these wastes gas. It can lower your gas mileage by 30 percent at highway speeds and up to 10 percent around town.

  2. Step 2

gas mileage decreases at speeds above 60 mph. Studies have shown that approximately For every 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.25 per gallon for gas. Ouch!

  3. Step 3

Using cruise control on the highway helps you maintain a constant speed and will help in saving gas. Its the rapid Acceleration / Deceleration that is bad. Remember this when the light changes, no need to Gun it! Coasting into Red lights also may help.

  4. Step 4

Use overdrive gearing in town if you have that setting. Your vehicles engine speed goes down. This saves gas and reduces engine wear. Hope this helps!
