Recent polls have shown that there is a drastic rise of 18-30 year olds who have become more active in politics.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Search for a local level governmental body in your area such as (City Council, County Legislature, Board of Supervisors, Town Board) and start attending meetings some of the meetings.

  2. Step 2

    Read, watch, and listen to the local news. After You have attended meetings from Step 1 above, and know first hand what transpired. Now you can compare your first hand knowledge to what the rest of the public is being told happened. You might be surprised!

  3. Step 3

    Volunteer with the political party of your choice. Posting signs, working fundraisers, or acting as a human billboard are often needed for successful campaigns

  4. Step 4

    Contact a candidate and let that person know that you would like to get actively involved in their campaign. You can also contact the candidates Campaign Manager as well. Be prepared to discuss what attracts you to this campaign.

  5. Step 5

    Serve on appointed boards, commissions or committees. By now You have attended meetings, worked with your party, and met many of the people vital to the campaign. Talk with the Chairperson, or the appointing authority, and let them know of your interest in serving on the board.

  6. Step 6

    Now that you have learned what it takes to get involved, get elected, and get your message across. Now it is time to Run for Office yourself if you so choose!
