California now allows many people to get a prescription for marijuana (weed), below are the ways to qualify for a prescription for marijuana in the state of California. Though these are the main qualifications for medical marijuana prescriptions in California, sometimes some exceptions are made for other medical conditions.

  1. Step 1

    Chronic Pain: Almost half the prescriptions given for marijuana in California are grouped together as being given for "chronic pain." This can vary greatly, and is commonly given for accident victims, back problems, and surgery related pain. It has however been given for less severe problems.

  2. Step 2

    AIDS: The second most common reason for a prescription is for people that suffer from AIDS.

  3. Step 3

    Mood Disorders: Many patients have been able to get prescriptions for their mood disorders. Mostly consisting of disorders that cause high stress levels.

  4. Step 4

    Cancer: Anyone suffering from cancer is eligible for a prescription for marijuana.

  5. Step 5

    Arthritis: Some patients that suffer from arthritis qualify for a marijuana prescription.

  6. Step 6

    Anorexia: Marijuana has recently become popular amongst patients that suffer from anorexia.

  7. Step 7

    Migraines: Patients suffering from migraines, especially if they have multiple stages of a migraine attack, can get a prescription to deal with the pain.

on 7/6/2009 I hadn't heard that Medical Marijuana was useful for people suffering from anorexia, but now that you've pointed that out, I can see that its use is totally intuitive.
