After you decide the area you would like fenced take your post hole diggers and dig your first hole about one foot deep. Place your landscaping post upright in the hole. Using a level make sure your post is straight up and down on both sides. Fill the hole with ready mix concrete. Walk to the other end of the area you are fencing(where your fence will corner). Use a string line to keep straight with your first post, dig your second hole and set this post in concrete as well.

Take the string and tie it to each post about one foot off the ground. This will help you keep all your posts in a straight line.

    • 3

Once again with your post hole diggers big a hole every 8 feet from one post to the other. Keeping the outside of your holes inline with the string. In all the holes you have dug set the post make sure they are all the same distance from your string (this will insure that they are all in a straightline).

Now move your string flush with the top of your first post. Place your string level on the string about middle way between your first and last post. Level your string at the other end of your run. With a pencil mark every post were the string is laying. Take your 2x10 board nail it flush with the marks on all the post. If you have any extra post sticking above the top of your first board take a saw and remove it. Then you will want to go back to your first post measure down one foot from the bottom of you top board and tie your string there. Take your string to the other end and repeat. mark your post and hang your boards. Repeat this for your third run. Follow these steps all the way around your property. Now paint and enjoy!
