1
Go out in the yard on a night after it had rained. Walk very lightly and quietly, as the worms can feel the vibration as you are walking. Shine a flash light on the ground. You will then see the worms lying on top of the dirt. Reach down slowly and firmly grasp and pull the worm out of the hole. I usually pinch the worm between my thumb and index finger. But make sure you get all of him. Then place him in the coffee can. If you place one wounded worm in a can with the others, they will all die.

After you have caught all the worms that you want place them in a small cooler which is filled with dirt. place the worms in the cooler. Have the soil moist. After all the worms are in the cooler take some newspaper and wet the paper. Then place the paper on top of soil in the cooler before placing the lid on. The news paper will help plump up the bait. Place in frig not on the bottom shelve as they could possible freeze. Place in the middle of the frig.

Check your bait and change it often. This cannot be stressed strongly enough. Pick baits that look healthy and avoid the ones that are lethargic. If they look pithy and lifeless please pitch. As a few bad worms can make your entire supply die.
If it has not rained and you need some worms. Water your area for a few hours, before dark. Then when dark, happy hunting.
