  1. Step 1

How to pack sweaters in a suitcase for travel is an innovate way of handling bulky items. This method of packing sweaters will allow room for other needed items in the suitcase so that the sweaters do not take up all of the needed space in your suitcase. The first step of course is to gather a week's worth of sweaters as most vacations or travel activities last approximately a week.

  2. Step 2

Use thin tissue paper from a store and gently line the backs of the sweaters with the tissue paper before folding. The tissue paper should be acid free to maintain the colors in the sweaters. The tissue paper maintain the shape of knitted tops and sweaters. Gently fold the sweaters the normal way using the part of the suitcase that has the straps to lay the sweaters to the outer areas of the suitcase.

  3. Step 3

When arrival to the hotel, do not hang the sweaters on hangers and for that matter, do not hang sweater on plastic, cloth or any type of hanger. Hangers will defeat your purpose of saving space in your suitcase by stretching the sweaters out of shape and making them larger. Make sure that you use the compartment available in your suitcase to help with categorizing your sweaters for packing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not use newspaper substitute for tissue paper. The paper must be made of tissue and be acid free to prevent colors from running on the sweaters.
  • Do not over pack with the thoughts that there may not be a laundry at the hotel. Pack only what your need so that your can put other needed supplies in your suitcase such as electronics, makeup, cameras and other everyday outfits.
