Things You'll Need:
- half a bag of meal starter (Morning Star)
- one jar or container of mild or medium salsa
- one can of red kidney beans
- two teaspoons of chili powder
- olive oil
-
Step 1
meal starterAdd a little olive oil into saucepan and heat. Pour one half of a bag of frozen meal starter into saucepan. Heat about two minutes and stir until meal starter pieces are defrosted.
-
Step 2
chili powderAdd two teaspoons of chili powder and stir.
-
Step 3
beans and salsaOpen a 16 ounce can of red kidney beans and add to meal starter. Also add liquid from beans and one half cup water.
-
Step 4
Add salsa from refrigerated container or jar to the mix. The quality and type of salsa may influence the taste of your chili.
-
Step 5
Mash up some of the beans with a big spoon or other utensil to thicken the chili. Simmer everything for 10-15 minutes.
-
Step 6
chili on riceServe chili by itself in bowls or on a bed of rice. Start cooking the rice before the chili, because it will take longer. Avocados served with chili will complement the meal. For a quick side dish, just half the avocados and sprinkle with salad dressing or lemon juice.
