How to Program a RCA Universal Remote Control

Need to program a device to your RCA universal remote control? It is very easy to do and can be done in just a few steps. Read through this article and you should be able to easily program your RCA universal remote.

Things You'll Need:

  • RCA Universal Remote
  1. Step 1

    First you will need to manually turn on the device you wish to program.

  2. Step 2

    Press and hold code search on your RCA universal remote. Do not release it.

  3. Step 3

    Press and release the button on your RCA universal remote you wish to program. (TV, VCR, DVD, CBL, SAT) The button should flash once.

  4. Step 4

    Enter the code for the device you wish to program, then release the code search button. (This list of codes can be found at RCA's website, the link is below under the resource section.)

  5. Step 5

    Hit power on your RCA universal remote, your device should turn off. If your device doesn't respond there may be more then one code. If there is more then one code you will start with the first and continue through them until one works.

  6. Step 6

    If none of the codes work you can do a code search with your remote. With the device on press and hold the code search button on your RCA universal remote. Then press the button of the device you wish to be programmed. (TV, VCR, DVD, CBL, SAT)

  7. Step 7

    Release the code search button and press the power button every one to two seconds. This will go through many codes to search for one that work with your device. (You may have to press the power button up to 100 times.) When your device turns off press and release enter to save the code.

  8. Step 8

    Your RCA universal remote should now be programmed.
