Step 1
To find a plasma donation center near you, search online or check your local yellow pages. If you have more than one blood plasma donation center nearby, call and check their rates, as some centers pay a little more or less than others, allowing you to earn even more extra money from donating plasma.
-
Step 2
To donate blood plasma, you must first submit to a medical exam and testing for various transmissible diseases. Your first visit will take longer to facilitate these tests. In most US states, you must be 18 years old, some states do have different age requirements for blood plasma donations, so check your local laws. You must also weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health, and not pregnant or breastfeeding.
-
Step 3
Hydrate yourself very well before your donation, drinking plenty of water will help your body recover much faster and may help avoid nausea. Eat well, and include a little extra protein in your diet for a few days for the best results. You may feel a little lightheaded after the plasma donation, but that usually passes rather quickly.
-
Step 4
Your first visit for your plasma donation will take about three hours, but subsequent visits average about an hour and a half. Don't forget to bring something along to keep you occupied, such as a good book or crossword puzzles to pass the time more quickly.
