Part of the Green Movement that is sweeping the world by storm includes improving indoor air quality. An easy way to improve your home's indoor air quality is with nature's natural air purifiers, plants. Many of them are not only beautiful to look at and easy to maintain, they will clear the air of many harmful toxins and, as a result, you will be much healthier with your natural air purifiers in your home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Do your research. There are several plants that are great natural air purfiers. A Chrysanthemum is great if you are a smoker because it can remove several of the harmful chemicals from tobacco smoke in the air. A Philodendron has been shown to reduce the amount of formaldehyde in a room. A Sweet Chicos or Janet Craig will help clear the air of VOCs, which are toxins that are released when you use cleaning supplies. Pick and choose what you would like to use as your natural air purifiers.

  2. Step 2

Visit your local nursery to get your plants. See if any of them are local species to your area. They will grow better if they are.

  3. Step 3

Make sure that you follow instructions as to watering your plants and how much sunlight they like to have. You will not have natural air purifiers for long if you accidentally kill all of the plants.

  4. Step 4

Keep the plants away from animals and small children. Some plants can be toxic if ingested.

  5. Step 5

Enjoy your plants. Not only will you be improving your indoor air quality with these natural air purifiers, you could be helping your stress levels. Studies have shown that plants can have a relaxing effect on the human body and can boost creativity.
