Most people have very little time for making homemade crafts for the holidays. This is especially true for minor holidays such as St. Patrick's Day. However, there are many easy St. Patrick's Day crafts that you can make with construction paper. This St. Patrick's Day shamrock card is very simple to make, and will only take you a few minutes to complete. Your recipient will love this shamrock far more than a store-bought card and will cherish it for years to come. Be sure to try this easy St. Patrick's Day craft project with your kids.

Click on the St. Patrick's Day shamrock card craft pattern included with this step. Right click on the image and select, "Save Picture As..." Open the shamrock pattern in your favorite picture viewer or image editing software. In your printer's preferences or options, ensure that "Fit to page" or "Scale to paper size" is selected. Print the image out on a regular piece of white printer paper.

  2. Step 2

Cut out the St. Patrick's Day shamrock pattern with a sharp pair of scissors. Place it over a 9 by 12 inch piece of green construction paper and trace around it lightly in pencil.

  3. Step 3

Cut out the St. Patrick's Day shamrock card from the green construction paper. Trim any ragged or uneven edges with your scissors.

  4. Step 4

Write a St. Patrick's Day greeting lightly on the front of your shamrock card in pencil. Add decorations to the card such as small four leaf clovers and leprechaun hats around the greeting.

  5. Step 5

Trace over the pencil outline of your greeting and drawings with a green marker. Carefully erase any pencil lines that remain with a soft, pink eraser.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use extra-large construction paper to create a St. Patrick's Day shamrock card that you can open up. Fold the construction paper in half, and ensure that the far left edge of your shamrock card craft pattern aligns with the fold. Trace the shamrock card and cut it out as instructed in steps 3 and 4. Write a personal holiday message inside the card and add your signature.
  • If you like, you can add other decorations such as pots of gold and rainbows to your St. Patrick's Day shamrock card. Cut out the designs from construction paper and gold foil, then adhere them to the shamrock card using a glue stick.
  • You can make several of these shamrock cards at once by stacking multiple pieces of construction paper so that you can cut them all at once.
  • Consider saving this project for rainy, windy days when the weather it too bad to go outside.
