Things You'll Need:
- Need for a literary agent.
-
Step 1
Every literary agent has a vice, most of the female literary agents really could use a chocolate break, couldn't they? This is a great ice breaker over a novel synopsis or just a nonfiction outline. Make sure the chocolate is sealed and has your book information all over it.
-
Step 2
Consider meeting your literary agent prospect in person. Literary agents get asked to visit writer conference and book events all over the country. Find out who is attending and introduce yourself in person. Get a solid 30 second pitch in line and give it straight. See if there is an immediate interest in your work by the literary agent.
-
Step 3
Literary agents are always out promoting someone. Most of the time, on the mid size tours, you will find the literary agent of the book author in the crowd. Beaming proudly like a mom, this agent has no office gurus to protect them and you can pitch your work on the spot.

Step 4
Look in the front of published books by authors of your genre. Obligations set in once your manuscript is a published work and the agent who represents you needs to be in the thank you section. These are literary agents with experience you can easily find by opening up a book
