  1. Step 1

    The first step is getting a vasectomy is to visit your local physician. Consult with your doctor on why you want to get a vasectomy and ask for recommendations for a board certified urologist. Many men want to get vasectomies done to prevent pregnancies during sex.

  2. Step 2

    Once you have found your urologist to perform the vasectomy, you will need to complete a series of tests. The urologist will test for a rectal exam, complete physical, exam of your semen, etc. Remember, you must have the mindset that a vasectomy can be irreversible.

  3. Step 3

    Set up a date for the urologist to perform the vasectomy if you have passed all of the exams. Before the day of the procedure, make sure that you shave your genitals.

  4. Step 4

    Make sure that you call of work for a couple days. Have someone drop you off at the hospital. During the procedure, the physician will sever your testes and tie the ends. The vas deferens will be pushed back in and the incision will be sutured.

  5. Step 5

    After the procedure, you will experience discomfort for the next 2-3 weeks. Make sure that you follow your doctor's recommendations and do not lift any heavy objects. The best way is to rest and let your body naturally heal. Your doctor might give you medication to ease the discomfort and/or pain.

  6. Step 6

    After a couple weeks, you will return to the doctor and give him or her some samples. If the surgery was a success, your doctor will clear you and you can go out and have some mad sex without making a girl pregnant!
