Step 1
Choose three to five colors to add to the business logo you are designing. Adding more than five colors to your business logo design may add significant business expenses to printing the business logo on business cards. These colors should be colors used in other business stationary, business flyers and marketing material.
-
Step 2
Identify the basic shape of your future business logo. Choose a simple logo shape that will not be too difficult to reproduce in various sizes. An intricate logo shape may look great on business letterhead or office stationary, but will not be clear when printed on a business card. Think about your future logo uses and where the logo may be placed when identifying a logo shape.
-
Step 3
Consult a professional graphic designer for ideas on business logo design. Invest in design consultations and consider having the graphic designer or professional logo designer to make the business logo for you. A crisp, clean and professionally made business logo looks much better than a choppy, amateur logo made on a computer or online.
-
Step 4
Research other business logos when making your business logo. For example, the book "Design Matters: Logos 01: An Essential Primer for Today's Competitive Market" offers an introduction to basic logo design and how to make your own business logo. Additionally, "Design It Yourself Logos Letterheads and Business Cards: A Step-by-Step Guide" offers logo design advice to those designing a business logo at home or online. Both are available at your local bookstore or at an online retailer such as Amazon (link in the Resources section).

on 3/3/2009 I'm actually thinking of designing a logo for my blog: www.jugglinghomemaker.blogspot.comI thought I might get some tips here on how to go about doing it with no out of pocket expense. This is a good article, with good advice, but the title makes it sound like there's no out-of-pocket. You may want to edit that. Good advice though on getting started on making your logo.
