1
Remove any solid mess from the carpet first. Use paper towels and gently pick up any solids. Be careful not to apply too much downward pressure or you may end up pushing the solid into the carpet more.
-
2
Blot any wet soils using paper towels or a rag. The best way to blot the wet soils is to place the paper towel or rag on the stain and then step on it. Your body weight will help to absorb more of the wet soil and take it out of the carpet.

3
Spray pet stain remover to the soiled area and let it sit for three minutes.
-
4
Blot or rub the soiled area with paper towels or a rag or sponge. You should only have to blot when dealing with wet soils. You may have to rub a little bit to lift out any solid soils that may have been ground into the carpet.

Tips & Warnings
You can also spray a solution with equal parts of white vinegar and water over the soiled area and blot up with towels. Then sprinkle baking soda over the area, let it sit for an hour and vacuum it up.
Be careful when cleaning up solid messes. Don't apply too much downward pressure when picking up the mess to avoid grinding the mess deeper into the carpet.
