Considering taking a road trip? Why not visit beautiful Austin, Texas---Capitol of Texas, home of The University of Texas, and live music capitol of the world. This is a road trip definitely worth taking!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A laid back attitude
  • Shorts and flip flops
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Spray
  1. Step 1
    The Oasis Austin

    The Oasis Austin

Visit The Oasis restaurant. I recommend ordering a huge plate of nachos and a nice big margarita or "The Sunset." Which leads to the next thing you must do, watch the sunset over Lake Travis. Best time to go is around 5-6 pm, get a good table outside on the deck overlooking the lake and relax! My other favorites are Chuy's and Shady Grove.

  2. Step 2
    Barton Springs Pool

    Barton Springs Pool

Visit Barton Springs Pool/Zilker Park. Warning!! It is cold, very cold. Best time to go--July or August when it's hot out!

  3. Step 3
    Capitol of Texas

    Capitol of Texas

Visit the Capitol, Bob Bullock History of Texas Museum, and The University of Texas all located in Downtown Austin.

  4. Step 4

Take a boat tour on Ladybird Lake at sunset and see the bats. Best time to go mid-March to early November. See 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats! It is truly amazing.

Love live music? There is usually always live music to be found in Austin, however, the two big events are Austin City Limits which takes place in October and SWSW (South by Southwest) which happens in March.
