Find People On-Line

Are you trying to find your first love or just some long lost friends from high school? Here are some helpful tips.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet knowledge
  1. Step 1

Classmates.com. They make you go through a free registration process before you can go check out who you may know on their site. This site only allows you to see so much information until you pay a small membership fee.

  2. Step 2

Facebook. Referred to by teenagers I know as the "Old Peoples Myspace", I just recently joined facebook and I am thoroughly enjoying it. There is no fee to join. You do have to build up enough courage to invite people to be your friend and be accepted in order to see a persons information. Yes, it does feel like high school again. The difference is we are all adults now. I have found that many people ask or accept you as a friend just to see your information, not to have lengthy conversations or want to find a new best friend. Once you get accepted, you can see all their photos they have posted along with some information they have provided. This format allows people to go on all day long to update people on what they are doing and you can comment on their postings. The only charges I have seen in my brief time on facebook is if you want to send somebody a virtual gift. "Gift credits can be purchased at a rate of 100 gift credits for $1 USD, in sets of 100 credits, 500 for $5, or 1000 for $10. You can choose between these three credit amounts in the gift credit purchasing interface. Most gifts will be sold for 100 credits, or $1." per facebook.com

  3. Step 3

Myspace. Registration is required but free. You can provide as much or as little information that you would like displayed on your page. Myspace is almost like having your own webpage that allows you to communicate with people. It provides search on the site to help you find people you may be trying to connect with.

  4. Step 4

White Pages On-Line. If you know what state the person lives in you may be able to track them down by using the basic white pages search. If the have a common name it may be a little more difficult.

  5. Step 5

Reunion.com. Quick registration that is free. You provide as much or as little information you would like. You have limited access unless you pay for membership. By limited I mean they just show you names of people that have registered. *

Tips & Warnings
  • I have found on Facebook that I was not able to locate a certain person through a basic search but when I became a friend with somebody else on Facebook I found the person I was looking on their friend list.
  • There are so many free resources out there so try them first before paying for any of the sites that charge a membership fee.
