Things You'll Need:
- A desire to save money by doing more things around the house and yard yourself.
-
Step 1
For instance, maybe in the past you got your hair dyed at a salon. Well, that can be a pretty expensive proposition. Rather than having your hair professionally dyed next time, you may want to purchase an over the counter hair dye product and simply dye your hair yourself. There are some very good hair dye products on the market, some of which are specifically designed to cover gray (if that is what you are looking for in a hair dye product). Give it a try. You might find that you can do just as good a job (or an even better job) than your hairdresser has been doing. If you usually get manicures, pedicures and/or eyebrow waxing done by a professional, note that these are additional beauty-related tasks that you may want to considering doing yourself for a while as a way to save money.

Step 2
Also, if you have been having your house professionally cleaned frequently (or even just once in a while), you may want to take over that task, at least during the recession. It can be very nice to have someone else clean your house, but it can also be quite expensive. And if you are hoping to save money during the recession, this is one task you may not want to outsource at this time.

Step 3
You can also save money by doing your own yard work, such as mowing, raking, pruning, gardening, etc. During the winter months, rather than outsourcing your snow blowing, you may want to do it yourself. Yard work is another one of those tasks that can be quite expensive to outsource, so you can actually save quite a bit of money by doing it yourself.
