Toga Parties Gained Fame from the Movie Animal House

Anyone who has been in college has been to a toga party. A Greek style event, theme party, or costume party are all good excuses to wear a toga.

The best part is most people have what they need to make a toga lying around the house already!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A white sheet
  1. Step 1
Fold in half such as along the crease in this image.

First take the sheet and fold it "hot dog style" so you have a long sheet. It may need to be folded twice. For men it should be about one and a half feet wide. For women it should be long enough to cover from your chest to below your waist. Alternatively, you can buy a length of cloth at a fabric store that you might not worry about ruining.

  2. Step 2

Once the sheet is folded, hold the end to your side. Men should hold it just above the waist line. Women should start just under the arm pit. Wrap the sheet once around yourself tight enough to ensure the end is held in place.

  3. Step 3
The wrap can go straight over or across your chest

Once the sheet is wrapped around you one full time, wrap the long end over your shoulder from behind. Keep the first wrap tight so it will stay up without you holding it.

  4. Step 4

Bundle the sheet over your shoulder into a bunch. Tuck the bunch into the section of the sheet that is wrapped around your waist/chest. Take a moment to ensure your folds are neat and the toga will not fall off.

  5. Step 5
It might not be the most elegant, but it works!

Optionally, you can pin the toga together at this point to ensure it is secure. You can also add a belt/tie around your waist and a costume headband to complete the look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to keep the wraps tight and check them periodically throughout the time you are wearing your toga.
  • If the toga gets loose, it might fall off!
  • Wear underwear under the toga.
