Mmmmm.... fresh oatmeal raisin cookies are not only delicious but they make a house smell like a home! These cookies come out soft and chewy or hard and crispy, depending on the baking time. So, customize away and get the best oatmeal raisin cookies EVER! These cookies are nutritious also - I'll frequently give them to my mom for breakfast! Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 sticks butter (room temp)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking SODA
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 cups oatmeal (not instant!)
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins

      I always have an audience when I'm baking....

      Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter, white sugar and brown sugar in a large bowl. Blend in eggs and vanilla until mixture is smooth.

      In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda and cinnamon. Add to the creamed mixture.

      Fold in (do NOT use the mixer) oats and raisins. Drop by tablespoons (for large cookies) on an ungreased cookie sheet - leave 2" between cookies.

      Bake 9 minutes for softer cookies. We prefer these oatmeal cookies to be crispy so I'll bake them as much as 13 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

Tips & Warnings

  • Oatmeal raisin cookies are addictive. Make sure to have lots of cold milk to serve with them.
