Step 1
First, pick out a knob. If the cabinets are new then you can use any type of knob you wish. However, if you are replacing existing knobs then the new knobs will have to closely match the existing holes in the cabinet doors. So, take an old knob with you when picking out new knobs (this only applies for handle shaped knobs where two holes are drilled).

Step 2
store templateWhen installing a new knob holes must be drilled in the cabinet doors. When doing this you must be extremely accurate with your measurements inorder to place the holes in a consistent spot. This is the most important step of installation. It helps to have a sharp pencil that marks clear lines and an easy to read tape measure.

Step 3
Home made templateAfter you figure out where you would like the holes a template can be made. This will allow you to drill in the same spot every time. Templates can also be purchased.
