Applying stage make-up is only limited by the Director's preference or your own imagination. Anyone can apply stage make-up and it's a great way to volunteer at the elementary and high school levels!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foam applicators
  • Foundation base
  • Dark eyeliner
  • Mascara
  • Red lipstick
  • Blush and brush
  • Lash curler (optional)

Start with a clean face and apply an oil-free moisturizer. Adults use a filling and sealing treatment to diminish the fine lines and wrinkles that makeup like to settle into.

Apply the foundation make-up to the foam blocks and then apply to the entire face until evenly blended. Make sure to blend from the chin to the neck as well.

  3. Step 3

Next line the upper and lower eyelid rims from corner to corner with a dark or black eyeliner so that the eyes POP.

Using a waterproof black mascara, apply to upper and lower lashes liberally, make sure you wait a few minutes for it to dry. Curl the lashes if desired only after they are completely dry.

Apply the blush to the highest, part of the upper cheek bone, do not over apply ... it should be noticeable but not street wench worthy. Keep dusting the brush over and over and over until nicely blended.

  6. Step 6
    Be bold and bright!

Pending on the Director's preference, apply the eye shadow to the upper lids liberally. Blues and greens with a shimmer stand out nicely. Liquid eyeliner is fantastic for accentuating the eyes ... some have glitter as well!

  7. Step 7
    Kissable

Finally, finish the look off with a bright red lipstick. The audience won't be able to notice the heavily made-up look; it is essential for them to see your face especially those in the back! Don't be shy, and explain to the little ones not to be embarrassed it's all for the love of the ARTS!!

  8. Step 8
    Have a blast with it!

If the Director allows for total paint facing practice at home to find a look you like so you can recreate it every night! Black eyeliner can outline colors on the face so they pop and then use a white or yellow eye shadow powder on the other side of the black line for contrast.
