How to Vacation at Home

Many people are choosing to vacation at home either because they do not have that much time off of work or because they do not have as much money as usual to spend on a vacation. Vacationing at home is also sometimes called a "stacation" because you are staying at home. Here are some tips for "stacationing" or vacationing at home.

Instructions

1. Make sure you take care of household chores before your vacation time starts. This includes paying bills, grocery shopping, cleaning the house, and doing laundry. Your vacation at home should not be filled with anything but fun.

2. Plan out your activities for your vacation at home. What have you always wanted to do but never had time? What was your favorite part of your previous vacations?
   
   Perhaps you want to visit an amusement park, go to the local lake, go camping in the backyard, read several books, visit new restaurants, go to a spa, get a massage, or play board games. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you have everything you will need for those activities before your vacation starts. Don't forget the camera.

3. Plan special fun meals, drinks, and snacks that the whole family will love. Make sure you have all the ingredients required before your vacation starts. A meal on vacation is not complete without dessert.

4. Tell everyone that you will be on vacation and unavailable during your vacation time. Don't tell your boss or coworkers that you will be home during your vacation because they might try and call you. Tell your buddies that you are spending time with your family and will be unable to come over and watch the game. Don't answer the phone and do not turn on your computer.

5. Consider purchasing something that will enable you to do mini vacations throughout the year. This may include a swimming pool, hot tub, tent, covered back patio, patio furniture, or barbeque pit.
