After months of covering up, it's a bit intimidating to slip on a skirt or sleeveless shirt and expose your whiter-than-a-ghost winter skin to the world. Since we all know tanning is a bad idea, a spray tan is a good option to add some color without the risk. Here's how to get the best out of your spray tan.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Loofah
  • Exfoliating scrub
  • Razor
  1. Step 1

Exfoliate. The day before you plan to get your spray tan, exfoliate away dead skin cells. These dry and rough patches will take on more color than the rest of your skin, leaving you looking blotchy rather than glowing. Use a loofah or a similar exfoliating tool, focusing on your elbows, knees, and feet. An exfoliating scrub is adequate for the rest of your body.

  2. Step 2

Shave. Make sure to shave your legs or take care of any other hair removal prior to the spray tan. Shaving immediately afterwards can cause the tan to flake off.

  3. Step 3

Don't wear lotion, perfume, deodorant or make-up when you are going in for your spray tan. The chemicals in these products may interfere with the tanning solution.

  4. Step 4

Wear loose, dark clothing to your spray tanning session. It is inevitable that some of the tanning solution will come off on your clothes, and although it usually washes out, it will give your secret away! Black is always a safe bet.
