A manicure should typically last for at least one week before you need another one. Here are some ways to help your manicure look good for the longest time possible.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First you should start off with a manicure, professional or at-home home manicure. It should consist of a basecoat, two coats of nail polish and a topcoat.

  2. Step 2

When applying the nail polish, make sure the coats are not too thick. This will prevent chipping.

  3. Step 3

Water tends to destroy manicures after a while so when you are washing dishes or cleaning the house, remember to always wear rubber gloves. Keep a pair near the sink in the kitchen and one in the bathroom under the sink.

  4. Step 4

Halfway through the week, apply an additional coat of clear polish to maintain the manicure and help keep it looking brand new.

  5. Step 5

If chips begin to arise, fill them in with the matching polish then swipe the polish over the entire nail.

Tips & Warnings
  • Rounded nails chip less since there are no square edges
  • Choose lighter colors so chips are less noticeable
