How to Plan a Spicy Bridal Shower
One of the best ways to avoid hosting a dull bridal shower is to choose a theme for the party. If it fits your bride, one fun option is a spicy bridal shower. Depending on the nature of the bride's friends and family, the double entendre of the bridal shower may or may not be lost. You can help them along by suggesting that the bride register at both a local kitchen supply store and a local lingerie shop.

How to Plan a Spicy Bridal Shower

1
Talk to the bride. If this shower is for both friends and family, she may not appreciate this theme for her 70-year-old grandmother and old maid aunts. Before choosing any bridal shower theme, find out where the bride is registered and make sure you know her well enough to know if the theme fits.

2
Buy invitations that stick to the spicy theme, or make your own from construction paper. One simple idea is to create invitations that look like salt shakers. When you're sending out the invitations, be sure to include a recipe card in each invitation and a note asking the guests to bring their favorite recipes for the bride.

3
Suggest that guests help stock the bride's spice rack. As a part of their gift or as a decoration on the gift, the guest can bring bulk spices to add to a spice rack for the bride.

4
Get samples of several different spices, including unusual and difficult to identify spices like cardamom. You should also include readily recognizable spices like cinnamon and red pepper as well. Number the samples and create an answer sheet for the guests to guess which spice each sample is. Purchase a small spice rack or an unusual and expensive spice to give to the guest who gets the most spices right.
-
5
Serve salsa and chips or other spicy dishes as an alternative to cake and punch at the shower. Mexican food, curries and other spicy snacks will make for a festive and themed menu.
-
6
Present the bride with her spice rack and a recipe card file full of the recipes from her family and friends as one of the final moments of the bridal shower.
