1
Start with a clean percolator. Try and clean it without submersing it in water. The electrical housing on the bottom is supposed to be protected, but accidents could always happen. Use warm soapy water and a soft rag to clean the inside and outside of the percolator, along with the filter, lids and inside tubing. Rinse and dry well.
-
2
Fill the percolator up to the top. If you want to make less than a full pot, you may fill it to the half-way mark. Use fresh water, preferably from a water filter in your home, or from a supply that is store bought.

3
Place the filter on top of the inner tube. The tube will go through the middle of the filter and stay in place.
-
4
Place the tube and filter inside the percolator. There should be a circular indentation in the bottom inside of the percolator. The tube will fit down inside it which will allow the filter to fall into a level position.
-
5
Spread the fresh coffee grounds around inside the filter. One pot full will require 2 tbsp. of grounds. Half that if you are making half a pot.
-
6
Place the filter lid on top of the filter and then place the percolator lid on top of the percolator.
-
7
Plug in your percolator and turn it on. Your freshly brewed coffee will be done when the percolating noises have stopped.
