- Two yards 60-inch flannel fabric Two packages satin blanket binding Sewing machine Sewing notions (scissors, matching thread, tape measure) Word processing program Embroidery thread (contrasting color) Darning foot Font for personalization Freezer paper Iron Pencil

Step 1
Cut the flannel fabric into a square. Assuming two sides are 60 inches, cut the other sides to 60 inches so that you have a 60-inch square of flannel fabric.

Sew the satin blanket binding around all four edges of the flannel according to the package directions.

Decide where you want the personalization on the blanket. The typical placement is diagonally across a corner. Mark this spot with several pins for future reference.

Open your word processing program and select a font for the baby's name. A script font is typically used for projects like this. Find a font that you like and increase the size of the font to the size desired for the blanket. Make sure you have the correct spelling of the baby's name and enter the name for the personalization of the blanket.
Print the name. -

Transfer the printed name to the freezer paper by tracing with the pencil.

Arrange the freezer paper with the name in the designated place on the blanket. Iron it lightly to adhere it to the blanket.

Thread the sewing machine with the desired embroidery thread. Lower the feed dogs and attach the darning foot to the sewing machine.

Carefully fill in the lettering of the name with small stitches with the sewing machine. Work slowly and make each letter one at a time. When the letters are filled in with stitching, stitch an outline around each letter.
Remove the blanket from the sewing machine. -

Carefully tear away the freezer paper from stitched name area to reveal a beautifully personalized receiving blanket.
