When introduced in 2006, the Lenovo X60 laptop was one of the lightest, thinnest and most portable laptops on the market. It also boasted of having the longest battery life--almost 7 hours--of any laptop then available. The laptop comes with Windows XP installed, so rebooting the system is an easy task using either the keyboard or the built-in mouse.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

    Reboot with the Mouse

  1. Step 1

Move your mouse pointer to the "Start" button and click on it.

  2. Step 2

Click on "Turn off computer" at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Restart" button in the new window. Your Lenovo X60 will reboot automatically.

  4. Reboot with the Keyboard

  5. Step 1

Press and hold down the "Alt," Ctrl" and "Shift" keys simultaneously. This will bring up the Windows XP Task Manager.

  6. Step 2

Press the "Alt" key and the "U" key to bring up the Shut Down menu.

  7. Step 3

Press the "Alt" key and the "R" key to reboot your laptop.

Tips & Warnings
  • If neither the mouse nor the keyboard is responding, you will have no choice but to use the power button to shut down your laptop. Hold the button for approximately 5 seconds to turn off the machine. Be sure to run "Scan Disk" after rebooting to make sure you haven't corrupted any files by forcing a shut down. Using the three-finger salute of "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Shift" can be used to shut down your computer if the mouse isn't working at all. Do the salute twice to shut down the laptop. Whenever possible you should reboot a Lenovo X60 laptop using the mouse and the "Start" button. By using Windows XP's preferred sequence of rebooting your machine, you run less of a risk of corrupting files or damaging your system.
