Things You'll Need:
- A Q-Tip Toothbrush
-
Step 1
Try to restart the DVD player, with no disk inserted. Sometimes a damaged disk can cause problems when a DVD/CD player is starting, and removing the disk may fix your problem very simply.
-
Step 2
Try running a "clean" disc through your CD/DVD Player. These cleaning discs are specially made disks with small brushes on the data side of the disk. They are created to gently wipe away dust that may have gathered on your DVD player's lens and are commonly available at most electronics stores.
-
Step 3
Check your connections. Many modern CD/DVD players have areas for more than one type of cable, and disconnected component, HDMI, audio, or S-Video cables may cause your player to function incorrectly.
-
Step 4
Toggle player options. Some advanced DVD players have options that include screen display, preferred language, and even auto-play options. Try switching some of these options to see if you can produce the desired function from your DVD/CD player.
