How to Make Panty Hose Baby Headbands
Babies often don't have much hair so trying to make a little girl appear more girly can be difficult with barrettes, but headbands work well. You can make your own with an old pair of pantyhose or tights and customize it to make it that much more special. It's inexpensive, fun and easy.

1
Take an old pair of pantyhose and lay it out flat. Smooth the hose and choose a section in the middle of the leg. Cut a straight line across the hose. Make another cut approximately 2 inches above it so the section you choose is the same width from top to bottom.

2
Fold the pantyhose strip in half (downward) so you have a 1-inch-wide band. Thread your sewing machine with a cotton thread of your choice. It can match the pantyhose color or can coordinate with the ribbon color you choose. Sew the folded edges together so you create a hem of sorts. If there are still some edges sticking out take clear finger nail polish and coat the edges with it then let it dry. The nail polish will prevent the edges from fraying.

Measure the baby's head. Measure the pantyhose band. You want the band to be about the same size as the baby's head. Cut the band in half. Sew the seam. Then cut a Velcro strip to 1/3 of an inch. Sew one half of the Velcro to one end of the band. Sew the other half to the other end of the band.

4
Cut a piece of ribbon. Tie it in a bow. Place the bow in the middle of the pantyhose band. Stitch through the center of the ribbon to attach. Fit the band to the baby's head and secure the Velcro.

Try different colored tights to create colorful headbands.
Don't stretch the pantyhose or you will stretch it out too much so it won't fit.
