If you polish your shoes on a regular basis, you've probably noticed that the polish tend to build up on leather shoes and causes the finish to be less effective. Not just cosmetic, this condition also limits the amount your leather shoes can breath, causing the leather to break down faster. Remove shoe polish build-up, and your shoes will look great for years.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Commercial shoe cleaner or saddle soap Soft, lint-free cotton rags
  1. Step 1

Apply a small amount of cleaner to a rag and work it into the leather of the first shoe, using an overlapping circular motion. Start with the top of the shoe and work your way around to the sides and back.

  2. Step 2

Set the first shoe aside and let the cleaner work while you apply it to the second shoe.

  3. Step 3

Buff the cleaner off each shoe, starting with the first shoe cleaned. Work in a back-and-forth motion, again starting with the top and working your way around.

  4. Step 4

Finish treating your shoes by applying a shoe conditioner and allowing it to absorb overnight before polishing or waxing your shoes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid using liquid shoe polish, as this tends to dry out the leather.
