Instructions

    • 1

Choose a fabric that is durable and complements your couch upholstery. Durable fabrics such as microfibers and other synthetics are easy to keep clean. These types of fabrics can be easily spot cleaned with upholstery cleaner. Measure your couch cushions allowing for additional fabric to cover both sides of the cushions, as well as 4 additional inches on each of the sides. This will allow ample room for the cushions to fit inside once the slip covers have been sewn. These cushion covers will be sewn in a pillow case fashion to keep the project simple. Seams can be sewn across the front sides later on to create a custom-fit look.

    • 2

After you have taken all of your measurements and have purchased the fabric and supplies, lay the fabric out on a large flat surface such as a dining room table or on the floor.

    • 3

Next transfer the measurements of the cushions onto the fabric. Cut out the front and back pieces for each cushion cover. Place the front and back sides together with the front of the fabric inside out and sew only three of the sides closed. One side should be left open to allow the cushion to be inserted.

    • 4

For a custom fitted look, tuck the cushion corners in and sew seams across to form a box in the front ends of the cushions.

    • 5

Take the rolls of Velcro and measure and cut strips for the top and bottoms of each cushion. Sew them onto each side of the cushion openings.

    • 6

Insert the cushions and close them in the back with the Velcro.
