How to Calibrate a Weight Scale
A weight scale must be calibrated regularly to ensure that the scale is working properly and displaying the right weight for different items and objects you weigh. Every scale manufacturer sets the scales with a default calibration weight, but if you use the scale frequently, you will need to recalibrate it manually. You can calibrate a weight scale with or without special weights, and improve the overall performance of the scale as a result. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Prepare the scale for weighing. Place the scale on a flat and stable surface.
-
2
Weigh a test object. Place your object in the middle of the scale and wait for the reading.
-
-
3
Adjust the weight. If the scale shows a different weight than the actual weight of the object, adjust the dial until the weight indicator shows the actual weight.
-
4
Remove the object. The scale should now go back down; it may not be right at zero if you needed to adjust the dial in Step 3.
-
5
Weigh your test object again. Make sure you have configured the scale correctly by placing the object in the same place as Step 2, and wait for the reading. If it is correct, the scale has been calibrated. If it is still not reading the right weight, adjust the dial again.

Tips & Warnings
Scales must be calibrated on an even surface for accuracy.
Avoid using food or prepackaged products as test objects; these are not always accurate. A dumbbell, large coins or other metal objects that you already know the weight of can provide more accurate results
