Step 1
Fill the basket with colored tissue paper. Choose a basket with a handle and fill it with green or red tissue paper. You may also fill the basket with green or red grass. The tissue paper and grass serve as a foundation on which you will set the Christmas gifts.

Step 2
Fill the basket with edible goodies. Fill the basket with candy canes and other festive chocolate treats. You may also want to include a chocolate orange or a wrapped chocolate Santa. You may also fill the basket with homemade treats such as cookies, brownies or fudge. If they are baked goodies, be sure they are wrapped in foil or Saran wrap to maintain freshness and keep unwanted visitors out. You may also consider filling the basket with sausages, cheese and crackers or with fresh fruits, such as oranges, apples or pears.

Step 3
Wrap a special gift and place it in the basket. The gift can be a book, CD or piece of jewelry. Choose a gift that is small enough to fit in the basket without crushing all of the other goodies included. Wrap the gift in festive Christmas wrapping paper.

Step 4
Include a Christmas card in the basket. Write a personalized message and sign your name on a Christmas card and place it in the gift basket. You can also punch a hole in the corner of the envelope and thread a piece of ribbon through the hole. Tie the ribbon to the handle of the basket.

Decorate the basket. You can decorate the gift basket by tying a ribbon or bow around the handle of the basket. You can also decorate the basket by wrapping it in colored cellophane wrap and tying a ribbon at the top.
