Measure your dog so that you know its measurements.

Go to the store and find a pattern appropriate for the size of your dog.

Choose a polyester fleece fabric.

Once at home, take out your pattern and cut out the pattern pieces.

Fold your fleece in half so that it is wider instead of skinnier.

Place the pattern pieces onto the material and pin them into place.

Cut the material out following the pattern pieces.

Sew the pieces together following the directions of your pattern.

Once everything is sewn together, turn the material right-side out.

Try it on your dog to make sure it fits.

Be sure to add room for movement so that the jacket is not too tight for your dog.

I would like to add that you can find many great second hand fabrics at a second hand clothing store. Find an X-large fleece sweater, pants or blanket and re-use instead of buying new!
