How to Install MSN 9

MSN Messenger 9, or Windows Live Messenger 9, is one of the popular IM freeware programs offered by Microsoft. With MSN 9, you can send instant messages to your friends, share webcam pictures, transfer files and play games. Installing MSN 9 is fairly easy and involves a few steps.

  1. Step 1

    Connect to the Internet through your relevant Internet service provider or other Internet connectivity option/service.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the "Internet Explorer" icon on your desktop or the "Internet Explorer" icon located on your computer's task bar. An Internet browser window will open up. Type "MSN 9.0 Download" in the search window of http://www.google.com. Scroll down to the URL http://download.live.com/messenger and click. You will be taken to the MSN 9 home page.

  3. Step 3

    Click the "Download" button toward the right of the homepage. A dialog window with the message "Do you want to run or save this file?" will pop up. Click "Run."

  4. Step 4

    Allow the freeware program to download. Downloading time will vary depending on your Internet connectivity speeds. Follow the installer instructions once the download is complete. The installer will prompt you to choose an installation location.

  5. Step 5

    Open the downloaded MSN 9 program to make sure it is working properly. Check all the features. Sign in with your existing Hotmail ID or sign up for one if you don't have one. Start chatting and sending messages to your friends.
