How to Make Your Own Sprint Ringtone

Sometimes when we look to mobile service providers to purchase ringtones, we don't always find exactly what we're looking for. For this one particular reason, users opt to create their own customized ringtones. Making Sprint ringtones will give you the ability to put just about any song of your choice on your phone. While the procedure can be rather tricky for those less tech-savvy, it can still be accomplished with detailed instruction. You can make your own Sprint ringtones in approximately 10 to 15 minutes tops.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to a third-party ringtone vendor site that supports custom ringtone creations. (See resources for suggested sites.)

    • 2

Click "Browse" on the ringtone site's uploading tool to locate the full song file you want to use.

    • 3

Attach the song you want to trim into a ringtone by searching for its file in the directory window. Click over the song's file name to highlight it.

    • 4

Click "Open" at the bottom of the directory window to move the file to the ringtone site's uploading tool, then double-click the "Upload" option to load the full song file into the ringtone creator. The song will appear as a waveform.

    • 5

Play the song in the ringtone creator. A marker will appear across the waveform indicating where the song is currently at throughout the duration of the song.

    • 6

Use the marker to determine what portion of the song you desire to use for a ringtone.

    • 7

Pause the song's playback where you'd like the ringtone to begin, then drag the marker to the part where you'd like to stop the ringtone.

    • 8

Click "OK" or "Continue" to advance to trim the full song down to the highlighted waveform portion you've chosen for a ringtone. You will be redirected to a page where you can provide your cell phone number so the ringtone can be sent to your Sprint phone.

    • 9

Enter your 10-digit Sprint cell phone number, with its area code, in the data fields provided on the ringtone site.

    • 10

Click the "Send" or "Send Ringtone" action to send the ringtone file to your Sprint phone. A text message will be forwarded to your phone. Once the file is sent to your phone, open the text message, and download the link within the message.

Tips & Warnings

  • This is the method used for the majority of ringtone creation sites online, but some site's instructions may be slightly different. You may be prompted to set indicate where you'd like to start the song by entering the minute and second, as opposed to using the marker on a waveform. Then you'll need to simply enter a number for how long you'd like the ringtone to be in seconds.

  • Keep all ringtones between 15 to 30 seconds. In most cases, mobile phones only ring for 30 seconds before going to voicemail. Therefore, any ringtones longer than this will not be able to playback throughout the duration of an incoming call. Long ringtones also take up more space in the phone's memory. So make sure you are aware of the length of your ringtone.
