How to Repair a Broken Guitar Headstock
A broken headstock can be detrimental to a guitar, rendering it essentially useless. It can be taken to a luthier for repair, but it is just as easily repaired at home for far less.
Things You'll Need
- Sliding clamp with rubber grips Industrial strength glue Scissor Piece of paper Wet paper towel

Follow directions on glue and apply to both surfaces.

Line up the headstock with the neck if completely separate. (If not there is no need.)

Cut paper to fit ends of sliding clamp and clamp over.

Compress pieces together using hands.

Clean any glue that has pushed out of the cracks with the paper towel.

Clamp neck and headstock together, using the paper between the guitar and the clamp. This will prevent gluing the guitar and clamp together.

Let glue cure according to instructions and remove clamp.

Using fingernail, scrape away any paper residue that might have adhered to the neck from gluing.

Tips & Warnings
If the headstock is completely separate from the neck, be very cautious when lining up and gluing as the slightest off angle will ruin the instrument.
The paper is a necessary step to prevent gluing the clamp to the guitar.
