How to Make Flash Cards for Babies

Several companies provide flash cards for parents to use with their babies. Companies sometimes offer free sets---usually to draw you into buying other flash card sets from them. But you don't need to pay these companies for something you can make yourself. Using any basic graphics program, it is fairly easy to make flash cards for babies. In this case, we will use Photoshop.

Instructions

Go to any of the countless image websites, such as Flickr, and download any images you need. If you want an apple, download an apple. Remember, as long as you use these flash cards at home for personal use, and don't try to sell them, under Fair Use you can print any images you like. In this case we will use an apple.

Open your new image in Photoshop. Go to "Select", and click "Select All". Then go to "Edit", and click "Copy".

    • 3

Open a new document in Photoshop. Make the size 8 ½-by-11.

    • 4

Go to the "Layers" panel, and make a new layer. Go to "Edit", and click "Paste". The object, in this case the apple, should be on the canvas.

    • 5

Go to "Edit, Transform" and use the "Rotate" and "Scale" functions to resize and reposition the apple at the top and upside down.

    • 6

Type in the word for the object, using a large font size. The size depend on your preferences, and the type face you choose. Print the page on card stock, fold it over and use child-safe glue to paste the sides together. And there you have it.
