      Measure the length and width of the existing patio to determine how much lumber will be required.

      Cut enough 2 x 4 pieces to run the width of the porch from top to bottom with a spacing of 2 feet between each run of boards.

      Drill the concrete with the concrete bit where your support boards will lie. Drill every 16 inches to ensure a good hold to the preexisting patio.

      Screw the support boards down with the concrete anchors into the holes that have been drilled.

      Measure for 2 by 6 deck boards running in the opposite direction of the support beams.

      Cut the 2 by 6 boards to length, staggering them in size if you wish.

      Screw deck boards to support beams using the deck screws until the entire deck has been completed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure that when cutting deck boards, that they are either long enough to complete the entire length or that they fall end to end on a cross brace to ensure support. Sealing your deck will help it last through the years.
