Burn Movies on Zune

Zune is a Microsoft program that enables users with a paid subscription to search and download music, videos, pictures and podcasts to their computer or Zune device--which is like an iPod that gets connected to the computer via a USB port. Files can be transferred to and fro the Zune device using the Zune software. Files that exist on the computer hard drive may be added to the user's Zune software collection for that particular media type. Once the files have been added to a collection, Zune allows users to play and burn the files onto DVD discs. The Zune software only allows users to burn video files onto data DVDs, which will only play on the computer and not in DVD players (unless they accept that video format). Videos downloaded and bought on Zune Marketplace cannot be burned at all.

Add movies to the Zune collection from a Zune device. In the top right menu, click "Settings" and then "Device" on the top left. Add movies to the Zune collection from the computer hard drive. Click on "Settings" at the top and then the "Software" tab. Go into the collection and, under the "Monitored Folders" header, browse to the hard-drive folders containing the video files by clicking on "Add Folder" next to the "Videos" header. Click "OK" at the bottom when done. Click on "Collection" at the top and then "Videos" to open the video collection. Burn the video files with Zune. Go to the top of the screen and click "Settings," then click the "Software" tab. Click on "Burn" in the left-hand side menu. Under "Disc format," choose "Data CD/DVD"; under "Burn speed," choose the appropriate speed. Click on "OK" at the bottom to return to the video-collection window. Double-click on the disc icon at the bottom left to be taken to the "Data Disc" window. The files to be burned are listed on the right, and can be reordered by dragging the titles up and down. The left-hand side shows how much total space the files will take up on the disc. Place a blank DVD disc into the DVD burner drive, and Zune will begin burning the disc. Note that Zune has no eraser for rewritable DVDs, so the media needs to be a blank DVD-R or DVD+R.
