Making a Grosgrain Ribbon Rose
-
1
Cut the grosgrain ribbon to a length of 24 inches.
-
2
Fold one corner down to align with the edge of the ribbon. This creates a finished diagonal edge.
-
-
3
Bend the floral wire back down upon itself approximately 2 inches from one end.
-
4
Take the folded end of the ribbon and slip the fold into the bent end of the wire so that the length of the ribbon is perpendicular to the wire. Secure the ribbon in the bent wire by squeezing firmly with needle-nose pliers. Twist the excess short end of the wire several times to secure the wire end. This should effectively secure the ribbon onto the wire.
-
5
Create the rose by beginning to wrap the ribbon around the wire. To do this, fold down the edge of the ribbon to create a diagonal fold. Continue folding and wrapping as you go around and around and around to create the petals of the rose. It is important to fold and wrap tightly as you construct the rose.

6
Continue folding and wrapping until there is approximately 2 inches of ribbon remaining. Fold this remaining ribbon lengthwise and wrap this remaining tail down where the rose is attached to the wire. Secure the ribbon rose to the wire with a 6 inch length of green floral tape. Cover the underside of the rose with wrapped tape and extend the tape down the wire several inches. Be sure to wrap tightly.
