How to Make a Bouquet With Ranunculus

Ranunculus are brilliantly colored flowers that grow 12 to 15 inches high from bulbs. They bloom in the early summer. Known commonly as buttercups, they make great wedding bouquets. While you need to have a few tools and supplies, it is not difficult to make your own fresh floral bouquet. You can use contrasting greenery in your bouquet which can be purchased from a local florist or picked directly from your garden.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Pick the ranunculus before the bloom is fully open on a dry day. Choose perfect blooms in the colors to match or contrast with the bride's colors. Clip the ends of the stem before making the bouquet.

    • 2

Soak a piece of floral foam that will fit into the bouquet collar. Make it saturated but not dripping wet. Push the ranunculus stems into the floral foam and through the bouquet collar. Do the same thing with any greenery or other flowers which you have decided to incorporate into the bouquet. Mist the blossoms with water from the spray bottle while you are making the bouquet.

    • 3

Wrap the group of stems to form a single handle for your bouquet using floral wire. Rewrap the wire covered stems using floral stem tape.

    • 4

Add ribbon. Start by placing a small amount of hot glue onto the bottom of the wire and tape covered stems. Then wrap the ribbon going up the stems toward the bouquet collar. Add another small amount of hot glue at the top to keep the ribbon secured.

    • 5

Store the ranunculus bouquet carefully in the refrigerator until the wedding. Make the bouquet about a day ahead. Protect it until you need it by gently wrapping the bouquet with tissue paper.
